Abstract

The author presents and describes Bosnia and Herzegovina on the basis of tourist guidebooks written in German between 1878 and 1918. Analysing the contents of the guidebooks he shows the image of the land, its population, towns, culture and tradition as well as tourist attractions and accommodation offered to the foreign tourist/traveller. He shows the change which occurred in the country after it was occupied in 1878 surveying its modernisation at the same time.
